“On 7th May this year Antoine Divet competed in the 2nd Michael Uriely Memorial Tournament at Westminster School together with other children from the Wallace Chess Elite & Talent Squad.
Antoine performed magnificently with 5/5. Antoine has worked very hard on his chess over the past year in the Elite Squad and reading books at home and now the results are showing. He is a good example of how hard work pays off. One rarely wins a tournament without some luck, and his game against fellow Elite Squad member Owen could have gone the other way when Owen got a big attack from the opening. However Antoine stayed calm and took his chances when they came. I think one of the secrets of Antoine’s success is his calm personality which enables him to stay cool under pressure.”
