The ancient game of chess is wonderful and timeless. It expands the minds of children and adults alike, tapping into a whole arsenal of skills including creativity, logic and strategic thinking. Wallace Chess is equally there for beginners, intermediate and advanced chess players, and students range from four year old’s learning for the first time, to National Junior Champions, to Senior Investment Bankers.

Over the past four and a half years Wallace Chess has prided itself in providing chess activities that enrich the lives of children, particularly the holiday camps running every half term and for several weeks over the Easter and Summer periods. These camps were founded by Astrid S. Wallace and John-Paul Wallace – an International Master and two-time Australian Champion – in order to use chess as the vehicle to develop confidence, cognitive skills and sportsmanship in children. Thus in addition to an emphasis on learning and competing, the camps are focused on an experience of being part of a team and on having fun – they provide the perfect introduction for a beginner to the world of chess.
