our camps reflect our philosophy that children learn best whilst having fun

Chess has enormous benefits for children, building confidence, strengthening academic skills and instilling a sense of fair play and sportsmanship. Wallace Chess has been providing chess activities for children in London for 5.5 years at Swiss Cottage Community Centre.

The Wallace Chess Camps are specially designed to be both fun and educational. The children will not only learn about chess, they will also be taught qualities such as integrity and ‘playing by the rules’, respecting the opponent, how to challenge and motivate themselves and a host of other skills that will serve them well both on and off the chess board. The educational benefits of chess have been verified by numerous academic studies across the world.

chess puzzles have a way of absorbing young minds

The founder of Wallace Chess, John-Paul Wallace, beat his first Grandmaster at age 14
and within a year had beaten every member of the Australian Chess Olympic team.
In 1994 he won the Australian Championship at the youngest ever age of just 17 and in 2003 he won it again.
The Wallace Chess staff are chosen for their enthusiasm and ability to interact positively with children.
All Wallace Chess staff have been CRB checked and children will be supervised at all times – their safety and well being is our top priority.
