This page is dedicated to honouring the achievements of the Wallace Chess kids. Each child is unique and will start at a different level and make progress at different speeds, but all of the milestones deserve praise whether it is their first certificate at the Sunday Rookies, making it into the school chess team or winning their age group at the London Championship. At Wallace Chess the children are also instilled with the values of respect, humility, team-spirit and determination and the children below are all wonderful examples of these traits in action.
Cameron: proud winner of the Wallace Chess half-term camp in October 2011. He fought a long and hard game against Adam who came 2nd. Congratulations to both! He is also one of the top players at Arnold House senior school chess club. He has excellent concentration and self-discipline, and his sportsmanship is a role model to the other children, as he is equally gracious in victory and defeat. We imagine that he will soon be hitting the tournament scene with great success!
Adam: Adam has won the Wallace Chess camp a record 5 times! He is one of the top players in his school and has had success at the London Championship and UK Chess Championship. He is a very gifted tactician able to calculate many moves ahead. Adam is also a legend on the football pitch and you can be sure to see him with a football in hand as he walks through the doors at our chess camps.
Emmanuelle: has been selected as one of the top players for her school chess team and is the strongest female player at Wallace Chess. She is a very patient player who has broadened her style to make it more attacking. She has also started competing in tournaments. Emmanuelle has been graced with discipline, determination and positivity, character traits that will take her very far..
Elias: has improved tremendously over the last year and is now the best player in his class. In particular his concentration has improved vastly. He is a popular little personality endearing himself to his peers. He started from absolute scratch at 4 years old and is now ready to compete with anyone – watch out!
Ettore (6yrs): Ettore has only played a couple of tournaments outside of Wallace Chess and yet he went straight to the top winning his age group as you can see below! He loves solving chess puzzles and has a talent for absorbing strategic concepts. At the Rookies Sunday Coaching he coined the brilliant concept of “automatic moves”, namely that you should avoid making what is often the most obvious move (the automatic one) without first checking for improvements and blunders.
Robbie: Is one of the strongest players at Wallace Chess and has also won the chess camps many times. He is a seasoned tournament competitor and has won the London Rapid Play event. His game in the exhibition given by Women’s Master Sabrina Chevannes at the London Chess Classic was considered the best of all 30 games she played simultaneously!
Nikita: Nikita is a strong and gifted player who is also very popular with the other children thanks to his good humour and kind personality. He is the top player at his school and competes with success in tournaments, including winning the Wallace Chess Camp tournament several times. He likes to play for the attack from the word go, and he doesn’t mind going for the 4 move checkmate now and again so make sure you know how to stop it!
Andrei: Andrei had, from a very young age, a unique ability to come up with plans that are several moves deep. He is an intuitive, creative player and likes to try something new in his games. He is very successful in tournaments winning his age division frequently. Andrei loves chess and is capable of solving very complicated puzzles.
Joshua: is a tremendously successful tournament player and has won many tournaments this year including under 10 events despite his youthful age of 7. Joshua’s success is due to a number of factors including his own talent and the several hours each week he puts into improving his game. His passion combined with his relaxed personality enable him to rebound quickly from a loss where others might get down hearted. He is a very well rounded player equally at home in attack and defence.
